Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Dispensing:
- Accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medications.
- Verify prescription orders for accuracy and potential drug interactions.
- Label medications clearly and provide patient counseling on proper usage, dosage, and potential side effects.
- Patient Counseling:
- Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, addressing their questions and concerns.
- Educate patients about their medications, including their purpose, potential side effects, and interactions with other drugs or food.
- Promote medication adherence and safe drug use.
- Health and Wellness:
- Offer over-the-counter medication advice and recommendations.
- Administer vaccinations and other clinical services as authorized.
- Conduct health screenings and provide preventive health counseling.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Order and receive medications to ensure adequate stock.
- Monitor expiration dates and dispose of outdated medications properly.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Participate in continuing education to stay updated on pharmacy practices and regulations.
- Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, other healthcare professionals, and insurance providers.
- Supervise and train pharmacy technicians.
- Contribute to a positive and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Current state pharmacy license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software and technology.
