Brief Job Overview
You can’t strengthen something if you don’t know where weakness exists. United States Pharmacopeia (USP) launched the Medicine Supply Map in 2020 with the mission of ending drug shortages and ensuring patient access to quality medicines. The Medicine Supply Map (MSM) is an AI powered platform that identifies, characterizes, and quantifies risk in the upstream pharmaceutical supply chain so that manufacturers and other supply chain stakeholders can take proactive steps to avoid or mitigate drug shortages.
The Medicine Supply Map has been featured in over 100 major media outlets such as Bloomberg BusinessWeek, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Financial Times, and Associated Press. To take our growth to the next level, we are seeking a Senior Sales Manager, who will report to the VP of Informatics Product Development within USP’s Digital and Innovation Division. You will work closely with the Product, Technical, Marketing and Legal teams to drive growth and user adoption. This is the first dedicated Sales role within the team. It comes at a pivotal time in the Medicine Supply Map’s journey where a great product is poised for significant growth. We are looking for an entrepreneur who is energized by data and has experience in the life science or pharmaceutical industry.
How will YOU create impact here at USP?
The Senior Business Development Manager, Medicine Supply Map will be accountable for meeting revenue and growth targets by:
- Owning the sales pipeline from lead generation through renewal.
- Converting new leads to clients quickly, working closely with USP Legal and customer Legal and Business teams to negotiate and close contracts.
- Developing quarterly and annual sales and account development plans.
- Providing feedback on customer needs to MSM’s Product and Technical teams.
- Leveraging Salesforce for tracking KPIs and maintaining customer records.
- Supporting marketing campaigns, conferences, and client visits through outreach and lead generation.
- Tracking industry trends and competitive dynamics to enhance MSM product positioning.
Who is USP Looking For?
The Successful Candidate Will Have a Demonstrated Understanding Of Our Mission, Commitment To Excellence Through Inclusive And Equitable Behaviors And Practices, Ability To Quickly Build Credibility With Stakeholders, Along With The Following Competencies And Experience
- Seven years of demonstrated success in sales, in a scientific or technical field, including some experience with a data product.
- Experience in the life science or pharmaceutical industry.
- Ability to travel 50-75% of the time to conferences and client sites.
Additional Desired Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, operations or life sciences.
- Experience with life science or pharmaceutical supply chain planning or operations.
- Experience with healthcare analytics products.
- Experience with consultative sales and commercial teaching.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None currently. As the product grows, a team may be added. This position can also grow into a supervisory role if other digital products are added to the portfolio.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $121,000.00 - $153,500.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: 13% Varies based on level of role
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
