The CFO will serve as a partner to the CEO providing a broad view of the business, driving operational improvements across the organization that will provide a firm foundation for growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic planning: Serve as a strategic partner and financial advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, the Board, and members of the senior leadership team to help shape the overall direction for COMPANY.
- Operational business partner: Help the leadership team drive business results. Recommend actions for performance improvement as appropriate. Drive effectiveness and efficiency. Partner with business leaders to provide relevant and timely analysis, benchmarks and business insights that inform business decisions and drive growth.
- Financial planning & analysis: Lead the development of the annual and three-year operating plan that achieves COMPANY’s financial and strategic goals, incorporating cross-functional input and buy-in. Drive robust tracking, forecasting and accountability for plan execution across functional areas. Ensure COMPANY develops and fosters an environment comfortable with the cadence and consistency required for a public company.
- Relationships with external stakeholders: Develop and cultivate strong relationships with all stakeholders including Board of Directors, PE sponsors, potential Wall Street constituencies, banks, auditors, and regulators, as appropriate. The CFO is an active participant in the corporate governance process and a significant contributor to Board Meetings.
- Capital allocation: Develop, execute, and oversee enterprise-wide capital allocation strategies and lead the COMPANY’s corporate financial operations, ensuring thorough financial evaluation of all strategic transactions, including the assessment of all M&A activity. Build business models to evaluate growth opportunities and maximize ROI-driven capital allocation; establish and achieve financial goals that meet investor expectations. Collaborate with other functional groups to ensure successful operational execution related to capital allocation decisions.
- Treasury, cash flow & working capital: Manage the liquidity needs and debt compliance of COMPANY and continue to improve cash flow conversion. Develop and execute a capital structure strategy alongside investors and lenders, including issuance/buy back of debt and/or equity as well as putting in place adequate back up credit facilities.
- Accounting and internal control: Oversee and have final responsibility for all aspects of accounting operations including establishment and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements, ensuring the integrity of the company’s financial data and external financial reporting. Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities including profit and loss, balance sheet, and other external and internal reporting requirements.
- Audit committee: Work with the Audit Committee to ensure adequate internal financial controls are in place and establish the highest level of ethics and compliance with both external regulations and internal policy. The Committee also has oversight for information security so experience in this area would be valuable. While COMPANY is currently private, it is possible that our future could include an IPO, in which case internal controls and other reporting and regulatory matters will need to adapt to meet public company standards.
- Finance organization: Develop, coach, and recruit top talent in finance and foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Continually enhance the capabilities of this team and the succession pipeline for leadership roles.
- Legal: Provide guidance to legal function on business issues associated with contracts, legal obligations, alongside managing risk management programs and related outside advisors.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be a well-rounded financial and business professional with solid leadership experience, ideally in the vertical SaaS category. The CFO will have the strategic mindset, leadership ability, collaboration, communication skills and savvy necessary to support and collaborate with the CEO, the Board of Directors, and the rest of the broader leadership team during this period of dramatic regulatory change and industry growth. Also, s/he will possess a strong, positive,“roll-up-your-sleeves and do whatever it takes”, attitude.
Minimum Requirements:
- 10+ years of SaaS experience in senior finance leadership roles partnering with officers and executives, including direct experience interacting with boards and board committees.
- Track record of building, leading, and inspiring high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated, advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial practices related to a high-functioning SaaS business.
- Proven track record of successfully managing c-level relationships, effectively partnering on financial planning and strategy development and execution.
Preferred Requirements:
- Executive-level communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings; experience with investors and investor relations.
- Previous experience as a senior financial professional in a private equity or high growth entity Pharmaceutical or healthcare experience
