Your Role at Baxter
As part of the TCO sustaining engineering team, you will be responsible for design changes for medical device products such as hospital beds and equipment. The engineering design changes may be related to design and quality improvements, with a focus on reducing costs to improve our product margins.
What you'll be doing
- As an electrical engineer on the team, you will be responsible for performing design analysis, engineering releases, and project management for small to medium projects or participate in portions of larger complex projects. The projects will primarily involve electronic and electromechanical design and development but may also include labeling, documentation, or other more general product updates.
- Apply new technical tools and concepts as needed with support from other team members.
- Implement design changes for electronic and electro-mechanical components, power supplies, electrical sub-assemblies, and product assemblies using our product release process.
- Generate feasibility assessment (business and technical feasibility), product risk documentation, DFMEA, engineering requirements, and cost estimates.
- Lead cross functional project planning sessions to develop project schedules using project management tools and work with various team members to complete engineering design change.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously through execution of project plan.
- Work in a team environment with daily contact with other engineers, technicians, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, supply management, and marketing personnel.
- Share technical knowledge with others on the team and guide other engineers in areas of expertise
- Challenge project teams and established work processes and proactively find creative methods to reach desired performance levels
- Inform others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from accredited college/university or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience working on circuit board design
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficient problem-solving skills
- Adaptable to changing priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
- Project management skills with knowledge and experience using project management tools
Preferred Experience:
- Design of circuit boards with embedded processors (ARM is preferred)
- Experience working with schematics (DxDesigner), layouts (Mentor Graphics Xpedition), design analysis (Mentor Graphics HyperLynx)
- Experience with digital design and basic software development for testing hardware designs.
- Experience with documenting designs and analysis including hardware requirements, hardware detailed design, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and testing requirements.
- Experience designing communication interfaces between circuit boards including, CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, LVDS, and display boards.
- Experience interfacing both analog and digital sensors to embedded processors including air pressure, temperature, load cells, current measurement, and others.
- Experience designing DC to DC switching power supplies.
- Experience with designing for radiated emissions, ESD, cost, reliability, and DFM
- Experience in the medical device industry and FDA Regulations is preferred
- Experience with project management methods and tools is preferred
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $104,000 to $143,000 plus an annual incentive bonus, commission target. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location. #LI-ASR2
