Job Overview
We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer L6 to provide technical leadership, architectural direction, and hands-on engineering impact across mission-critical applications and and enterprise platforms.
This role serves as a recognized technical authority, driving platform strategy, identity and security patterns, cloud modernization, distributed systems and large-scale service design across business units and product lines.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in Java, SpringBoot, relational databases, distributed systems, APIs, cloud services and identity technologies with strong experience in OAuth2, OpenID Connect, federated identity, and SSO. This person will influence engineering standards, technical strategy, and roadmap direction while serving as a bridge between engineering, product and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with increasing technical and leadership scope.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
- Deep expertise in relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience designing and scaling high-traffic, mission-critical systems in cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of scalability, availability, reliability, performance, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated ability to influence architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and technical leaders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience owning technical initiatives from architecture and design through implementation and production operation..
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, secure API design, and federated identity.
- Experience implementing federation and SSO using Azure AD B2C or other enterprise identity providers.
- Experience with API gateways, identity platforms, access management, and enterprise security architectures.
- Direct experience influencing roadmaps, modernization initiatives, or multi-year platform strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership in cloud modernization, developer productivity, and architectural transformation programs.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, distributed processing, and eventual consistency patterns.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace including metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
- Experience with performance engineering, load testing, capacity planning, and reliability engineering.
- Experience improving CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment strategies, and engineering productivity at scale.
- Experience designing high-availability, disaster recovery, and business-continuity strategies for mission-critical systems.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
