Brief Job Overview
The Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager is a strategic and implementation position within the Convention and Stakeholder Engagement department of Global External Affairs. S/he will lead engagements with key stakeholder communities, interface with senior level leaders internally and externally, and collaborate with colleagues across USP to bring the best of USP to every engagement and help deliver on USP’s mission. This position will spend time in both our Washington, DC office and our Rockville, MD headquarters.

Additionally, USP’s People and Culture division, in partnership with the Equity Office, invests in leadership and workforce development to equip all employees with the skills to create high-performing, inclusive teams. This includes training in equitable management practices and tools to promote engaged, collaborative, and results-driven work environments.
The Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager Has The Following Responsibilities
- Build and sustain relationships with stakeholder organizations, including patient advocacy organizations, industry and scientific trade associations, practitioner groups, and others, connecting them with USP’s priorities.
- Engage USP Convention Members through Sectors, developing and delivering programming and content that is informative, grows their connection to USP, and delivers on our accountability to our members.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to incorporate appropriate perspectives and expertise into the planning and implementation of engagement activities.
- Develop presentations, talking points, messaging briefs for executives to deliver to stakeholders.
- Lead issue management, utilizing an approach that flexes by issue, objectives, stakeholders, and potential organizational risks.
- Exhibit ownership for successful programs and initiatives that position USP as a leader and yield meaningful outcomes.
- Serve as a stakeholder engagement expert with executives and other colleagues, helping them tell compelling stories, build connections, and advance priorities through engagement.
Who is USP Looking For?
The Successful Candidate Will Have a Demonstrated Understanding Of Our Mission, Commitment To Excellence Through Inclusive And Equitable Behaviors And Practices, Ability To Quickly Build Credibility With Stakeholders, Along With The Following Competencies And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience in life sciences advocacy or trade association or similar role.
- Established relationships within patient advocacy and/or pharmaceutical trade associations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the pharmaceutical life cycle and the range of stakeholder sectors across it.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects at once maintaining a focus on quality and outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to frame content for the audience and the objectives.
- Collaborative with the ability to influence and inspire in a matrixed organization.
- Agility – comfortable with fast moving and sometimes shifting objectives and tactics.
Additional Desired Preferences
- Experience in strategic external relationship management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None, this is an individual contributor role.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $127,102.00 – $156,550.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
