Title: Health Services Specialist

Position Summary
Join Biologics by McKesson as a Health Services Specialist and play an important role in helping patients and providers navigate the specialty medication access process. In this role, you will support prior authorizations, reimbursement activities, financial assistance coordination, and ongoing communication with patients, providers, and external partners.
This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and passionate about delivering compassionate, high-quality service to patients and providers.
Work Location & Schedule
Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of Cary, North Carolina. This is a hybrid position requiring on-site work two days per week. Standard work hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday, with one Saturday shift required each month.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately enter all communications and documentation into the Biologics MIS system.
- Use available resources to help secure copay assistance funding for patients and communicate available financial support options to providers and patients.
- Communicate with providers regarding patient updates and document all interactions in Biologics MIS.
- Review clinical notes provided by providers and initiate prior authorizations through online portals, phone, or fax.
- Follow up with third-party organizations regarding assistance applications until a determination is received for copay or free goods support.
- Manage inbound calls from patients, clients, physicians, practitioners, and clinics regarding services, financial support programs, and application status.
- Coordinate with the benefits investigation team to initiate pharmacy dispensing workflows once assistance outcomes are determined.
- Triage prescriptions to preferred pharmacies or hub providers when Biologics is unable to serve the patient and confirm successful receipt by the appropriate pharmacy or hub.
- Identify and report adverse events and product complaints to clinicians
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Typically requires 3 or more years of related experience.
- Experience in insurance verification or benefits investigation is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and perform effectively under pressure.
- Highly motivated, committed to excellence, and able to maintain a positive attitude.
- Conscientious, detail-oriented, flexible, and adaptable.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to bring forward new ideas that support services and solutions.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician designation is preferred but not required.
Education
- An associate degree or higher is preferred.
