Principal Solution Architect
Location: Hybrid / Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
About The Opportunity
We are building a new engineering organization to develop and scale a next-generation healthcare technology platform focused on specialty patient access and Hub Services. Our mission is to modernize how providers, pharmacies, payers, and manufacturers collaborate across complex access workflows by leveraging cloud-native architecture, AI-enabled automation, and healthcare interoperability.
This is a rare opportunity to help build a high-impact platform from an early stage while backed by an experienced leadership team with deep expertise in healthcare technology. You will have significant influence over architecture, engineering culture, technical strategy, and product direction as we build a world-class engineering organization.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Solution Architect to serve as the technical owner of our Hub Services platform. The platform is built using React, Python (FastAPI), PostgreSQL, and Microsoft Azure, utilizing Azure Cache for Redis, Azure Queue/Service Bus, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
Unlike a traditional architecture role, this position requires a builder who is equally comfortable defining long-term architecture and writing production code. Approximately 50% of the role is focused on architecture, technical strategy, and product roadmap, while 50% is dedicated to hands-on engineering, mentoring, design reviews, troubleshooting, and coding alongside the development team.
What You'll Own
- Full technical ownership of the Hub Services platform, including architecture, scalability, security, reliability, and long-term product evolution.
- Building and mentoring a new engineering organization, establishing engineering culture, standards, and delivery practices from the ground up.
- Defining the product's technical roadmap and modernization strategy.
- Architecture governance, coding standards, DevOps practices, observability, release management, and operational excellence.
- Designing enterprise-grade integrations with EMR/EHR systems, SMART on FHIR applications, FHIR APIs, Prior Authorization platforms, pharmacy systems, payer solutions, and other healthcare ecosystems.
- Serving as the primary technical advisor for Product Management and Engineering leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture for cloud-native, highly available, scalable healthcare solutions.
- Design REST APIs, event-driven integrations, and distributed application architectures.
- Produce architecture artifacts including HLDs, LLDs, API specifications, sequence diagrams, and integration designs.
- Review and contribute production-quality code for complex features and critical components.
- Coach and mentor engineers through architecture reviews, pair programming, and technical leadership.
- Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and Operations to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software.
- Drive continuous improvements across SDLC, CI/CD, monitoring, performance, and platform reliability.
Technology Environment
- Frontend: React, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Backend: Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, asynchronous programming
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Cloud: Microsoft Azure
- Caching: Azure Cache for Redis
- Messaging: Azure Queue Storage / Azure Service Bus
- Monitoring & Logging: Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics
- DevOps: Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines
Required Qualifications

- Azure and architecture certifications are a plus.
Success Profile
- Thrives in startup environments while applying enterprise engineering discipline.
- Comfortable switching between executive strategy discussions and hands-on coding.
- Builds high-performing engineering teams through mentorship and technical leadership.
- Takes ownership from architecture through implementation and production support.
