Brief Job Overview
The Senior Project Manager will provide day-to-day project and operational management of the Safeguarding Heat Stability in Essential Life-Saving Drugs and Diagnostics (SHIELD) project, which is a multi-country project working in Asia, Africa, and Latin America addressing the impact of climate change on the stability and performance of critical health products. In close collaboration with the SHIELD Project Director, the Senior Project Manager will lead the planning and management of activity implementation in coordination with the project team, and in alignment with donor and contractual requirements. More specifically, the Senior Project Manager will manage development of project workplans, monitor timelines and develop and oversee reporting processes among other tasks, to ensure high quality results. The role also involves coordinating and communicating with stakeholders – including the donor, project partners, key external national, regional, and global stakeholders, and internal teams.

The SHIELD Senior Project Manager Has The Following Responsibilities
- Holds operational accountability for the timely and successful implementation of project activities, to include leading a cross-functional project management team with technical, M&E, finance and other relevant staff and leads development of appropriate systems and processes for project implementation that ensures contractual compliance and tracking of contractual obligations to ensure high quality results.
- Leads development of workplans, preparation of high-quality and timely progress reports, and manages the quality control process for deliverable review and submission.
- Coordinates with other USP sites and divisions, such as Global Science and Standard on technical activity implementation and to ensure necessary resources are available to meet contractual milestones and deliverables.
- Manage project workstreams in close collaboration with technical leads and partners while facilitating overall project alignment, harmonization, and cross-country learnings.
- Proactively identifies issues/risks, including escalation in a timely manner and the facilitation of resolution with appropriate management staff.
- Develops project budgets/projections and monitors project expenditures in close collaboration with Finance Lead and Project Director to ensure accurate tracking and reporting to the donor.
- Serves as primary liaison with project partners to coordinate planning, communication, and performance across multiple partners; ensure alignment with donor requirements and overall subaward compliance, facilitate regular partner meetings, track deliverables and compliance, and proactively resolve risks or conflicts to maintain project quality and timelines.
- Manage consultant and vendor engagements while ensuring compliance with donor rules and regulations and USP policies; this includes but is not limited to drafting scopes of work with technical staff, managing the onboarding process and all contract administration, and monitoring progress towards deliverables.
- Supports donor management efforts by assisting the Project Director in maintaining strong donor relationships; contributing to donor communications; and preparing briefings and presentations and responding to donor inquiries.
- Ensures good records management, according to USP and donor policies and promotes strong project knowledge and information management.

- Bachelor’s Degree - International Development, Public health, Science or other relevant degree.
- Five (5) years of donor-funded project management experience (e.g., Unitaid, US Government funding agencies, World Bank, Global Fund, Foundations, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience establishing program management systems and processes.
- Monitoring and evaluation experience with donor-funded projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

- Master’s Degree and PMP Certification.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple workflows, while effectively managing project timelines and deliverable schedules.

- Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating complex consortium donor-funded projects.
- Proven skills in group facilitation, team building, and partner coordination.
- Ability to build relationships and interact effectively with technical experts, other partners and donor agencies.
- Prior experience and success working in complex environments, with teams whose members are physically located in different time zones and geographic areas.
- Professional and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and key external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Fluency in another language, such as French or Portuguese, with ability to communicate (written and verbal) with key stakeholders.
- Ability to demonstrate the highest degree of ethics and integrity.
- Ability to work in cross-cultural settings.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $101,867.00 – $127,250.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
