Key Responsibilities
As the interim leader, you will oversee a vibrant inpatient pharmacy supporting diverse specialty areas including Orthopedics, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, General Surgery, Adult Behavioral Health, and low-risk OB/Pediatrics.
Your day-to-day leadership will include:
Administrative Oversight: Manage department payroll, design and optimize shift schedules for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and oversee Pyxis user access and security.
Committee Leadership: Spearhead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee by building agendas, steering monthly meetings, and driving approved clinical initiatives.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Attend monthly medical staff committee sessions and actively participate in specialized COPD readmissions reduction initiatives.
Operational Control: Conduct daily weekday huddles and monthly department-wide meetings to keep the team aligned. Manage the pharmacy's controlled substance inventory with twice-weekly ordering, and partner closely with the Buyer to proactively mitigate supply chain constraints.
Clinical & Continuity Support: Step into the cleanroom to assist with sterile compounding only if critical staff call-ins require emergency coverage.
Qualifications & Requirements
To thrive in this leadership role, you must bring a strong background in acute care pharmacy management and a meticulous eye for operational workflows.
Licensure: Active, unrestricted Missouri Pharmacist License in good standing.
Certification: Valid Medication Therapy Services (MTS) certification is required.
Experience: Proven, recent experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting (prior Director, Assistant Director, or supervisor experience is highly preferred).
Technical Savvy: Experience with Meditech Expanse is highly preferred, as this role is directly responsible for managing and updating the facility's drug dictionary.
