Tension Corporation is seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Electrical Technician to support and improve our manufacturing operations. This hands-on role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex electrical and control systems on high-speed envelope folding and production equipment.
The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with PLCs and automation systems, and a proactive approach to equipment reliability and continuous improvement. This position also supports system upgrades and manufacturing improvements across multiple plant locations, with occasional travel required.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and control system issues on manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Maintain, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs and electrical control systems, primarily Allen-Bradley platforms.
- Support upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement initiatives for manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, hydraulic prints, and mechanical drawings.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to resolve equipment issues and improve performance.
- Support electrical systems across multiple plant locations, including occasional travel as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, UL508A, and Lockout/Tagout safety standards.
- Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities accurately.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment working with electromechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with industrial electrical systems and automated equipment.
- Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modifications (Allen-Bradley preferred).
- Proficiency using electrical test equipment including voltmeters, ammeters, and ohm meters.
- Experience with:
- 3-phase industrial wiring
- AC/DC control systems
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Servo drives and motors
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings.
- Working knowledge of:
- NEC
- UL508A
- NFPA 79
- OSHA regulations
- Lockout/Tagout procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience supporting high-speed manufacturing or converting equipment.
- Experience with continuous improvement or equipment modernization projects.
