Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician, Facilities is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional warehouse and office environment through general repairs, preventative maintenance, and coordination with external service providers. This role performs hands-on maintenance tasks such as basic building repairs, equipment and fixture installation, and workspace setup, while also supporting vendor-managed services including HVAC, plumbing, and landscaping. The position requires the ability to independently assess issues, perform routine repairs, and escalate more complex problems to appropriate contractors. This role operates with minimal supervision and plays a key part in ensuring overall facility readiness, safety, and day-to-day operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform general building and facilities maintenance, including repairs to door hardware, fixtures, lighting, and other common facility components
- Complete routine preventative maintenance and identify potential facility issues before they become larger problems
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, landscaping) to ensure work is completed accurately and on time
- Assess maintenance issues and determine appropriate resolution, including performing repairs or escalating to contractors when needed
- Support facility projects by assisting with material pickup, basic installations, and coordination of on-site work
- Maintain facility safety and compliance by performing regular inspections and partnering with EH&S to address concerns
- Set up, move, and reconfigure office and warehouse spaces, including furniture, workstations, shelving, and equipment
- Operate tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and lifts (e.g., scissor lift), in a safe and effective manner
- Maintain inventory of facility supplies, including janitorial, first aid, and breakroom items
- Keep the warehouse and facility areas clean, organized, and in compliance with company policies and standards
- Create and manage basic documentation such as work orders, purchase requisitions, and maintenance records
- Additional duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform general building and facilities maintenance, including basic repairs to fixtures, hardware, and equipment
- Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and facility equipment
- Ability to assess maintenance issues, determine appropriate next steps, and either resolve or escalate effectively
- Working knowledge of basic building systems (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC) with ability to support vendor-managed services
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative in identifying and addressing facility needs
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn systems such as Oracle
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and ability to support compliance with EH&S standards
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; Spanish language skills a plus
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma required
- 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or general repair work required
- Electrical or HVAC experience a plus
- Oracle experience preferred
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time; depending on the machine they are operating
- Operator is required to use computer or touch screen to enter work order data
- Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 80 pounds
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
