Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher working with students who have mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities. The role focuses on supporting students with primary and emotional disabilities within a Nexus Program setting. You will work with children in grades 2 through 4, providing tailored instruction and support in a classroom environment designed to meet diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities include delivering individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating closely with paraeducators, and fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere. The classroom typically includes 2 to 8 students, with a maximum of 10, allowing for personalized attention and targeted teaching strategies. You will work alongside a dedicated team of three para professionals who assist in implementing lesson plans and supporting student needs throughout the day.
Qualifications And Experience
- Certification or licensure as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience teaching students with mild/moderate and moderate/severe disabilities
- Knowledge of working with primary and emotional disabilities
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
- Prior experience with Nexus Program or similar specialized support programs is advantageous
Schedule: Contract position with 37.5 hours per week
