What You Get To Do
The responsibilities of this position include creating logistical software solutions that accommodate customer requests and system solutions, and to prepare technical project documents (Process Description, Development Specifications, Calculation, Project timelines) in close cooperation with our customers, suppliers and internal departments according to the sales process, in order to develop overall business needs that must be incorporated into the proposed layout and is responsible for providing the best overall design solution for customers, meeting all financial and functional criteria and complying with all OSHA codes and safety rules.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Development of cost and performance optimized software solutions.
- Programming of process, software and systems solutions (Process Description Software) using Process4Biz BPMN and Technical Description and IT.
- Active coordination and support in the creation of layouts in VectorWorks
- Creation of solution descriptions including the solution boundaries, interface specifications, etc.
- Investigate, analyze and make recommendations to management regarding technology improvements, upgrades and modifications.
- Shared responsibility as project member or Software Lead for the developed logistics software solution.
- Creation of Development Orders (ZDR / DevOps) and assist in the execution of the changes before and after the implementation.
- Technical support to Sales Department, especially in complex projects.
- Active decision-making in selecting and using software and control com- ponents; clarification and specification (budgeted price request (BPA)) of developments with the functional departments.
- Perform Data Analysis and strategic system development.
- Offer calculation for Software, introduction scenarios and specification of relevant components (Hardware and Software).
- Solid understanding of network infrastructures
- Customer communication, Project Management and presentation On-Site or at the KNAPP headquarters; prepare presentation documents including graphical presentation of project planning results.
- Actively participate and lead PO Workshops
- Excellent knowledge of logistics and understanding of complex procedures in the workflow with our customers
- Documentation of the finalized project documents
- Qualified and experienced contact person for specific project related information
- Provide training and ongoing guidance for new employees
- Lead project teams
- Support strategic developments
What You Have
- Required degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or similar.
- Required 3+ years intralogistics automation software and process design.
- Preferred 3+ years warehouse operation and automation experience.
- Excellent knowledge of intralogistics; automated storage systems, understanding of complex processes and the work process of our customers
- Preferrable to have knowledge about KNAPP products / systems, their functions and areas of application.
- Strong knowledge of intralogistics/automation software architecture (WMS, WES, WCS, SRC), interface communication, programming, databases and data structures.
- Strong knowledge about inventory strategies commonly deployed in warehousing.
- Knowledge of picking technologies such as automated storage systems, goods-to-person, PTL, Central Belt Systems (CBS), AMRs/AGVs, sorters and the different methods of deployment of each technology.
- Language command: English required, one other language (Spanish or German) strongly preferred.
- Good presentation technique and persuasiveness.
- Software knowledge required: MS Office suite including Advance Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Oracle (Plus), VectorWorks (basics), AutoCAD (basics), Process4Biz BPMN, Doxis, TortoiseSVN, Filemaker Pro, SAP.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Passport or ability to obtain passport
- Professional office etiquette is always required
- Travel required (30%) various unanticipated US client sites.
- Overtime (occasional) as required by work.
- Physical requirements: sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm's length, and lifting up-to 50 pounds.
