Role Overview
The Sr. Engineer, Information Security & Risk is a senior-level, hands-on security engineering role with architect-level responsibility focused on securing cloud platforms, modern applications, APIs, and sensitive healthcare data.
This individual will design and implement scalable security solutions that protect enterprise systems while enabling engineering teams to innovate quickly and securely. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong collaboration and advisory skills across engineering, infrastructure, and security teams.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement cloud security architectures across AWS and other cloud platforms
- Define and enforce authentication, authorization, and API security standards
- Partner with engineering and IT teams to secure cloud-native applications and services
- Integrate security into the software development lifecycle through architecture reviews and engineering guidance
- Build and maintain reusable security patterns, standards, and reference architectures
- Identify, assess, and mitigate cloud and application security risks
- Support security risk assessments, audits, compliance initiatives, and regulatory requirements
- Act as a trusted advisor and mentor across security, engineering, and IT teams
- Drive security best practices related to identity management, encryption, monitoring, and secure application design
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years of engineering experience with at least 3+ years focused on information security engineering (AWS)
- Strong hands-on experience securing AWS cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Deep understanding of application security, API security, identity and access management, and modern authentication frameworks
- Experience securing cloud-native architectures and distributed applications
- Strong knowledge of vulnerability management, security monitoring, and risk mitigation strategies
- Ability to clearly communicate security risks, recommendations, and architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, infrastructure, and compliance teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent experience
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CISA, GIAC, or similar
- Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated environments
- Experience integrating security controls into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
- Familiarity with enterprise governance, risk, and compliance frameworks
