About the Role
We are seeking a technical, strategic engineering leader who can scale teams, drive execution, and lead our evolution into AI-driven and highly automated solutions.
This role is responsible for building, mentoring, and leading a high-performing engineering organization while setting a clear technical vision across modern SaaS and cloud-based ecosystems. The ideal candidate brings a balance of hands-on technical expertise and executive-level leadership, with a proven ability to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and forward-looking solutions.
You will lead teams through all phases of the software development lifecycle while fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement. This leader will play a critical role in driving automation, operational efficiencies, and the integration of AI-driven capabilities into our products and processes.
Success in this role requires strong cross-functional partnership, influencing across Product, Analytics, and IT, and the ability to align distributed (onshore/offshore) teams under a unified vision.
This position will be located at our offices in San Diego, CA.
How you will make an impact:
In this role, you’ll:
- Lead, develop, and scale high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous growth
- Define and execute technical strategy and roadmaps aligned to business priorities, with a strong focus on AI adoption, automation, and system scalability
- Drive end-to-end delivery of complex engineering initiatives, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and brought to completion
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Analytics, and IT to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Establish and promote data-driven decision-making across engineering and product development
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in architecture, system design, and code quality standards
- Champion modern development practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and scalable cloud-native architectures
- Lead efforts to identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, including AI/ML and automation tools, to improve efficiency and product capability
- Ensure systems are secure, maintainable, and scalable to support future growth
- Communicate technical concepts and progress effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership
- Support customer implementations and foster a service-oriented engineering mindset

Skills and experience you have:
You don’t need to check every box. We will consider a combination of education and experience, including:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 8–12+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including leadership roles
- Proven experience leading engineering teams, including onshore and offshore resources
- Strong background in SaaS and cloud-based architectures, with experience scaling systems and teams
- Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical involvement with strategic leadership
- Experience driving automation, efficiency improvements, and/or AI/ML initiatives within engineering environments
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and modern software development practices
Technical Expertise
- Front-end: React, Angular, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks
- Back-end: Java, Spring Framework, REST/SOAP services
- Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle
- Architecture: Microservices, containerization (Docker, OpenShift)
- DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, TDD
- Performance & Security: application performance tuning, secure coding practices, vulnerability prevention
- Additional: experience with distributed systems tools (e.g., caching, messaging, service orchestration)

Pay Transparency
At XiFin, we believe in pay transparency and fairness. The expected annual salary range for this role is: $166,000- $225,000.
Depending on your qualifications, you may be considered for either a Director, or Senior based on experience and scope.
Final compensation will be determined during the selection process and may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
