Staff Pharmacists will be under the authority of the Director of Pharmacy.
The following is a guideline of what is expected and the responsibilities included in the Staff Pharmacist position.
Job Requirements
Holds an Indiana pharmacist’s license Remains in good standing with the Board of PharmacyPossesses problem-solving skillsSpeaks English fluently and clearly to allow communication with staffPhysically able to stand for prolonged periods of timeCapable oflifting upto 10 pounds without restriction
Job Duties
Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to state regulations and established company policies and procedures.Manages medication profiles by reviewing drug therapies; advising interventions.Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians'work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counselingnurseson drug therapies.Develops pharmacological and organizational knowledge by participating in in-services; Pharmacist meetings, and other meetings as necessaryDevelops pharmacological and organizational knowledge of others byparticipatingin the training ofstudents,technicians, andother pharmacists.Helpsmaintaincustomer facility compliancewith state and federal drug laws as regulated bystate boardsofnursing, the drug enforcement administration,CMS guidelines,and the food and drug administration byrecommending order clarifications in anticipation of nursing unit inspectionsComplies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state boards of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work of technicians; studying existing and new legislation; advising management on needed actions.Supports pharmacy staff byidentifyingeducational topics and development of in-service material whenappropriate.Willingness to be trained in sterile compounding, monitoring and dosing of intravenously administered anti-infectives.Maintainsasafe and clean working environment bycomplying withprocedures, rules, and regulations.Maintains pharmacological knowledge bycompleting continuing education credits as required by the state of IndianaContributes to team effort byaccomplishingrelated results as needed
