The Accessioning department is responsible for receiving thousands of samples per week, appropriately dispositioning of samples for proper testing, managing the inventory management system for tracking of samples as they move through the labs, and communicating and coordinating with clients regarding the status of their samples.
This is a management position with multiple direct reports and oversight of a large department. The completion of the department's technical and strategic processes through sound people-management defines this position's success. This position will require not only a high level of technical expertise but also business acumen to make sound strategic decisions and advisement.

Position Duties...
- Ensures all data and shipments are logged into the system and are reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company, industry, and regulatory guidelines and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager, and other senior leadership.
- Advises, guides, and/or directs on operations activities of the department.
- Responsible for appropriate planning and utilization of resources to meet departmental and company goals and objectives.
- Sets, measures, analyzes, and reports on Departmental metrics to accurately describe departmental performance, including financial activities, error reduction, growth, and performance indicators.
- Ensures all safety programs are executed to the highest standards and quality control.
- Review reports of the Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) system for adequacy and completeness before submitting for final approval and verification.
- Tracks and verifies all Accessioning Laboratory personnel and outside contractors are properly trained.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager/Director and other senior department leadership on changes to department policies and procedures to increase output and reduce testing errors within regulations.
- Review, approval, and audit timecards per company policies and procedures with the strictest time requirement.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Department recruitment activities including workforce and IT requests, placement of job postings, schedule of phone and in-person interviews, and notification of job offers.
- Tracks, verifies, and completes employee action forms including but not limited to performance evaluations, training, and development, and at times leads disciplinary meetings.
- Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in techniques and technology relevant to the field and stays current on industry, company, and departmental methodologies, terminology, and regulations.
- Tracks and ensures corrections to actions to critical instruments, systems, and processes when found to be out of specifications or regulations.
- Strict Adherence to Standard Laboratory Operations, Quality Management Systems (QMS),and Current Good Manufacturing Process (cGMP).
- Adhere to, use, and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Laboratory Safety Equipment and identify hazards that may arise. Including the ability to wear a full-face respirator in addition to standard Personal Protection Equipment.
- Complete all safety training, including but not limited to OSHA, Departmental SOPs, and Company Compliance.
General Work Schedule: Business hours are generally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. This is a leadership position so business demands may require work outside ther hours.
Travel is not a significant component to this role but may be required on an infrequent basis.
Position Requirements...
Associate’s degree in Business, Chemistry, Supply Chain and Logistics, or equivalent Diploma with 2 years of experience in a managerial role with 2 or more direct reports, as well as 1 year of experience in Employee Management, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring selection, coaching, mentoring, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Experience In The Pharmaceutical Industry.is Preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, Supply Chain and Logistics or equivalent Diploma is ideal with 3 years of experience in a managerial role with 2 or more direct reports, as well as 2 years of experience in Employee Management, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring selection, coaching, mentoring, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Experience in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is ideal. Experience with inventory management system is preferred.
Work Environment...
- This job operates in a professional Laboratory environment using typical protection equipment (Eye protection, Gloves, Lab Coats, etc.)
- This role routinely involves standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Essential duties of laboratory environment with periodic exposure to chemicals, solvents, and other environmental substances, including but not limited to odors, and varying temperatures.
- Exposure to the use of chemicals with the classification of Hazardous, Toxic, Corrosive, Flammable, or Oxidizing.
- The noise level is moderate.

- This is a partially sedentary role; however, a short daily walk between buildings is required, and some filing is required.
- This position would require the ability to lift 50 Lbs. (If an object weighs more than 50 Lbs. ARL requires this to be a two-person job or the use of carts.
- Ability to sit and stand in front of a computer and/or laboratory equipment for extended periods, with intermittent twisting/bend to reach instruments or supplies surrounding equipment. Routinely stand and walk in the performance of duties.
- Ability to use hand strength and finger dexterity to perform grasping and fine manipulation of precise equipment.
- Operation of standard office equipment.
