An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support students in a school environment located in Asheville, NC. This contract position focuses on delivering specialized instruction using adapted curriculum and intensive intervention strategies for 2nd and 3rd-grade students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to approximately 10 students with diverse learning needs.
- Deliver adapted curriculum with a focus on intensive intervention to support student achievement.
- Collaborate with two teaching assistants to ensure effective classroom management and instructional support.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents and educational teams.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably 2nd and 3rd grade.
- Strong skills in delivering adapted curriculum and intensive intervention methods.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff and support personnel.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Schedule
- Full-time contract role, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, totaling 40 hours per week.
