The Role
Reporting to the Exe. Director of Digital Operations and Strategic Portfolio Management, the candidate in this role will be a pivotal force in supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives and aligning operations within Moderna’s CMC Digital organization and TPM for cross- CMC initiatives. This role operates at the intersection of digital strategy, CMC innovation, and enterprise execution—playing a critical role in accelerating Moderna’s mission through the thoughtful design and orchestration of digital programs that enable transformational CMC capabilities. It also demands a strong leader focused on operational excellence, strategic planning, and management of cross-functional programs critical to our CMC organization.
Here's What You’ll Do
- Assist in leading the operational delivery of Moderna’s Digital Agenda under the Director’s guidance.
- Support the management of a strategic portfolio focusing on digital operations and strategic initiatives across the CMC Digital organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive and support project management and operational changes within the digital domain.
- Contribute to the data-driven strategy development and implementation, aligning digital efforts with business priorities and organizational goals.
- Facilitate communication and best practices sharing among functional portfolio leaders, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Co-lead the design and execution of the portfolio operating model with Digital and CMC leaders—ensuring initiatives are defined, sequenced, resourced, and measured.
- Drive transparency, predictability, and value delivery across a portfolio that spans Cross CMC data investments, lab automation, and AI/ML-enabled insights.
- Ensure decision-making frameworks are data-driven, with clear visibility into cross-program interdependencies, delivery risk, and resource alignment.
- Build and maintain a stakeholder engagement model, including executive dashboards, program updates, and cross-functional working groups.
- Act as a strategic liaison between the Digital organization and senior CMC stakeholders, translating complex technical roadmaps into actionable value stories.
- Drive resource and capacity planning across internal teams and external partners; lead multi-vendor delivery models and optimize for cost, quality, and velocity.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to track budgets, reallocate investment as needed, and ensure portfolio delivery aligns with Moderna’s enterprise goals.
- Support the establishment of operational data platforms and data-driven KPIs to monitor and enhance digital operation performance.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years in digital operations or IT management, with a proven track record in technical program management, digital strategy execution and portfolio management, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Deep experience delivering complex, cross-functional programs with distributed teams and multiple stakeholder groups.
- Expertise in project management tools and methodologies, including Agile practices.
- Strong financial management skills with experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of leading diverse teams and working effectively across organizational boundaries.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the digital transformation challenges and opportunities within the pharmaceutical sector, particularly in CMC.

- Advanced degree (MA/MS/MBA) in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.

The salary range for this role is $142,500.00 - $256,500.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
