The Role
The Director, Logistics Operations US leads Moderna’s US Logistics Operations Hub, accountable for resilient, compliant, and high-performing distribution execution across GDP, GMP, and Cold Chain frameworks. This role ensures operational excellence across 3PL management, network performance, and distribution reliability, while embedding digital capabilities and AI-driven orchestration into day-to-day logistics operations.
As Process Line Leader for Global Logistics, this role owns the systems and AI roadmap as business lead for agentic initiatives under the Moderna Intelligent Supply Chain. Accountable for cross-functional integration and scalable innovation, the PLL drives Control Tower evolution, end-to-end visibility, trade compliance technology, IoT-enabled lane validation, and automation programs, delivering measurable P&L impact and ROCE improvement.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, tech-savvy logistics team capable of managing complex distribution and logistics challenges.
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of distribution and logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, 3PL management and inventory management.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with company objectives, enhance customer satisfaction, and support business growth.
- Ensure processes are adherent to Health Authority requirements and guidelines, such as Good Distribution and Storage Practices, based on commercial demands and product portfolio
- Partner with Moderna Digital and Logistics Engineering to design and deploy next-gen systems: transport management, digital twins, predictive analytics, and automation platforms.
- Develop and manage the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high service levels.
- Architect and govern the cross-functional systems and AI roadmap as the business owner for agentic projects under the Moderna Intelligent Supply Chain initiative, orchestrating capabilities across Engineering, Operations, and Trade Compliance to enable intelligent, agent-based flows and end-to-end process harmonization.
- Serve as an integral part of the Global Logistics team, ensuring alignment and integration of logistics initiatives with digital transformation efforts, strategic objectives, and operational processes across the organization, while taking full ownership for delivering results.
- Lead the digital transformation of Trade Compliance and Logistics by implementing integrated, software-driven, touchless systems. Embed global regulatory requirements into workflows, drive system-based lane validation for optimized and secure transport, and partner cross-functionally to scale automation and operational efficiency across the network.
- Build and enhance the capability to assess the end-to-end financial impact of logistics systems, processes, and technology implementations, demonstrating measurable improvements to the company’s P&L and ROCE that drive long-term enterprise value.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- 12+ years of progressive experience in global logistics, supply chain, or digital operations, including 5+ years owning complex systems or process portfolios
- Proven track record integrating 3PL platforms, transport-management systems, visibility / Control-Tower solutions, and trade-compliance tools across multiple regions
- Hands-on experience designing and executing cross-functional systems & AI roadmaps—delivering agent-based automation and quantifiable P&L / ROCE gains
- Demonstrated leadership of large-scale transformation and change-management programs, aligning Engineering, Operations, Trade Compliance, and Finance through go-live and stabilization
- Knowledge of IoT, lane-validation analytics, and data-driven performance management in logistics environments
- Financial acumen for business-case development, value tracking, and ROI reporting
- Exceptional collaboration, influence, and communication skills in highly regulated, multinational settings
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

- Master’s degree (MBA, MS Supply Chain, Engineering Management, or related)
- Direct experience leading Intelligent Supply Chain or AI-enabled logistics programs within life-sciences, biotech, or similarly regulated industries
- Fluency with SAP S/4HANA, SAP GTS, TMS systems, and / or comparable Logistics and Supply Chain systems and API-first integration patterns
- Hands-on with AI/ML applications in supply chain, digital twins, predictive analytics, or IoT-enabled cold chain solutions.
- Proven delivery of optimization targets through digital logistics innovation
- Multilingual capability and/or significant international assignment experience a plus

The salary range for this role is $167,000.00 - $300,700.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
