A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at a high school in Chicago, IL, focusing on inclusion classrooms for students in Grades 9-12. This role involves co-teaching with general education teachers and managing a caseload of 15-20 students.
Location: Chicago, IL
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break (37.5 hours per week)
Contract Duration: ASAP through End of School Year (EOSY)
Classroom Setting: Inclusion (Co-Teaching) with 4 general education sections and 1 remedial/resource section
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for high school students
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers to deliver inclusive instruction
- Provide specialized support tailored to the needs of students with disabilities
- Manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning environment
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois LBS1 Professional Educator License (PEL) for grades K-22
- Demonstrated experience writing effective IEP goals
- Prior experience working in inclusion settings or co-teaching models preferred
