Job Description
Eurofins Built Environment Testing is proactively seeking a Laboratory Technician to temporarily join our Naperville site. This position will be offered as a temporary position that will support the laboratory processing samples from May- December.
The Laboratory Technician will need a solid understanding of microbiological techniques, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, repetitive environment. Sucessful training for position must be completed within two weeks of the start date. Training will consist of filtering and plating biological concentrates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine microbiological laboratory procedures and analyses
- Maintain, calibrate, clean and test sterility of lab equipment
- Isolate and make cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms
- Document all data and results in specified forms
- Conduct microbial analyses of samples collected from various sources
- Adhere to correct procedures, policies, and health/safety guidelines
- Prepare specimens and samples for testing
- Work in compliance with laboratory safety standards
- Prepare detailed reports of laboratory results and findings
Qualifications
Education/Experience :
- AS or BS degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field
- Proven work experience as a Microbiology Laboratory Technician or in transferable laboratory setting
- Hands-on experience with relevant equipment, procedures, and safety regulations
- Knowledge of modern microbiological techniques
- Experience in preparing cultures of bacteria and other microorganisms
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English
Ability and/or Skills:
- Strong communication and written skills
- Strong computer knowledge, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive and high energy attitude
- Handle moderate stress in a fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented
Additional Information
The position will be scheduled Monday - Friday 10 AM- 7 PM, with OT as needed.
The position is located at the Naperville, IL Laboratory Site and will require onsite attendance daily.
Starting Range for position is $18.00/hr- $22.00/hr based on experience
