Brief Description
Dunbarton Corporation is seeking a
Quality Control / LEAN Technician to join our team that is responsible for the inspection, testing, measuring, evaluating, sorting, sampling and/or weighing of raw materials, or processed, machined, fabricated, painted or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, dimensions, color, finish, completeness of assembly, packaging, labeling, and compliance to all specifications, all Dunbarton expectations and all customer requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Examine incoming materials, in-process components, and finished goods using precision instruments to ensure they meet specifications
- Read and apply blueprints, engineering drawings, inspection guidelines, and other technical documents to determine specifications and testing procedures
- Quickly communicate quality issues to machine operators, using knowledge of machinery to help correct defects and maintain product standards
- Take proactive steps to prevent material defects and reduce scrap and production loss
- Immediately notify supervisors and relevant personnel of any deviations from specifications or production problems
- Ensure products meet all requirements including materials, dimensions, colors, fabrication processes, packaging, and delivery methods
- Compare product attributes such as color, shape, texture, and surface quality against standards and samples
- Accurately record inspection results, product details, and quality data in forms, records, or ERP systems
- Mark items with acceptance or rejection status and ensure nonconforming products are properly handled
- Disassemble, repair, and reship returned products, and accurately account for returns, scrap, and rework
- Use quality tools, statistical analysis, and mathematical calculations to improve inspection processes and product standards
- Implement and follow all safety, 6S, Kaizen and LEAN guidelines and policies
- Learn the functions of and rotate through selected positions and tasks in the quality area
- Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements
- Performs other work as directed and required
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of 6S, Kaizen, and LEAN guidelines and policies
- Knowledge of recording research and sample collection
- Knowledge of advising and training others
- Skill in monitoring equipment operation
- Skill in the use of various manual and electric tools
- Skill in use of computer hardware and software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
- Ability to stand up in front of a class and teach 6S, Kaizen and LEAN guidelines and policies, quality procedures, ticket reading, proper tape measure use, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customers
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns
Requirements
- One (1) or more years of professional experience in a technical position, using quality control techniques or similar functions
- Two (2) or more years of professional experience in quality control or similar position
Note: At the discretion of the hiring manager and/or the Human Resources Manager an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Sits or stands for long periods of time. Communicates effectively in person and/or by using telecommunications equipment. Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Moves, lifts, carries, and places objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Works in varying temperature conditions. Occasionally will work in high, precarious places and occasionally is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
