An established 325-bed community hospital is seeking an experienced pharmacy leader to fill the role of Interim Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacy Consultant on a contract basis. This position requires an immediate start with a commitment of 13+ weeks. The schedule is Monday through Friday, day shifts.
This leadership role works closely with the hospitals Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to provide operational oversight, staff coaching, and strategic guidance aimed at ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication management throughout the facility. The Interim Director will be responsible for driving performance improvement initiatives, maintaining regulatory compliance, and leading efforts in personnel management, medication safety, expense control, and workflow optimization.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Partnering with the PIC to manage daily pharmacy operations and advance strategic priorities
- Providing leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities for pharmacists, technicians, and support staff
- Ensuring compliance with DEA, USP, and state regulations while maintaining survey readiness
- Leading projects related to pharmacy operations, clinical service enhancement, purchasing efficiency, formulary standardization, revenue cycle management, and staff development
- Collaborating with hospital executives, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve departmental and hospital-wide goals
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years recent or current experience as Director of Pharmacy in a similar, larger hospital environment
- Active Georgia pharmacy license
- BLS certification or willingness to obtain
