JOB PURPOSE: To contribute to the success Esco through installation of Esco equipment in line with Esco business objectives and customer satisfaction.
We’re seeking a Field Service Engineer (Pharma) to install, qualify, maintain, and repair equipment used in GxP environments. You’ll support FAT/IQ/OQ, perform preventive/corrective maintenance, and provide customer training while ensuring compliance with cGMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and GDP documentation standards.

What You’ll Do:
- Install & Commission: Set up and start-up equipment such as chromatography skids, bioreactors, isolators, filling/packaging systems, sterilizers/autoclaves, incubators, and analytical lab instruments.
- Qualification Support: Execute/assist with IQ/OQ/PQ and ensure documentation is audit-ready.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software/PLC issues.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled PM, calibrations, and system checks; update firmware/software.
- Compliance & Documentation: Complete service reports aligned with cGMP and GDP; track parts usage and deviations.
- Customer Training: Train operators and technical staff on equipment use and maintenance.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback on recurring issues and recommend upgrades.

Key Performance Areas
- Become the technical expert on Company bio containment products sold in North & South America.
- Travel across North & South America (about 75%, mostly by flying) to install, test, service, and market our products.
- Solve technical issues on-line and on-site to ensure customer satisfaction in our products.
- Provide product and service training to customers on our products.
- Participate in Research and Development effort to improve our products with knowledge gained.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues client sites.(complex process systems, fans, pumps, control valves, instrumentation, electrical and control systems, including systems with PLC control and HMIs).
- Identify and procure parts & equipment to make your job easier.
- Maintain a complete service log to keep track service issues.
- Be able to work effectively unsupervised.
- Have impeccable time management skills.
- Work effectively under pressure internally and on site while protecting company image.
- Work proficiently alone or as part of a team to achieve deadlines.
- Fully proficient in MS Excel/Word.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLCs and 21 CFR Part 11.
- Cleanroom experience and contamination control knowledge.
- Experience in bioprocessing, sterile manufacturing, fill-finish, or QC labs.
- Electrical diagnosis skills are essential, from an industrial background.
- Mechanical aptitude to assemble equipment from GA drawings and re-wire pretested equipment safely is essential.
- Training in specifics of Pharma equipment assembly will be provided as that is a major part of role.
- Provide assembly support for process equipment in the Esco factory, ensuring the highest levels of quality; unscheduled maintenance visits.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of life science applications and laboratory equipment.
- Willing and able to travel across US about 75% of the time, mostly by flying.
- Occasional international travel for advanced training.
- Possess valid US passport, driver's license, and credit card for travelling.
- Strong customer service background.
- Being articulate in explaining technical terms to customers.
- Being able to lift 50+ pounds.
- Work in cleanrooms and production environments with PPE.
- Able to work in a team-based environment.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated to do what it takes to get things done to make customers satisfied.
- Strong organizational skills in service / installation management and customer follow-up.
- Pass the substance and background check.
- A secondary part of role would include assembly of current new projects within our facility.
