How This Role Impacts Live Oak And Its People
The Loan Operations Compliance Specialist role is essential in safeguarding the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of Live Oak’s core data. Through your advanced understanding of Live Oak’s loan products and procedures, you serve as a key contributor to maintaining data quality. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to precision ensure that the information driving key operational, regulatory, and strategic decisions is reliable and compliant. By maintaining consistent data-quality practices and supporting established controls, you help reduce risk for the bank and assist teams across the organization in working with reliable information.
What You’ll Do at Live Oak:
- Evaluate newly boarded loans to confirm alignment with required data standards and validate that entries reflect the intended structure of the loan documents.
- Assess loan modifications to ensure changes are properly supported, documented, and accurately represented across core systems.
- Verify file maintenance updates completed by other team members, ensuring data integrity and escalating inconsistencies as appropriate.
- Validate payoff activity by confirming accuracy of recorded details, supporting documentation, and procedural adherence.
- Monitor daily operational reports to identify payment application errors, general exceptions, or control-related issues requiring follow-up.
- Carry out tasks governed by SOX controls, ensuring each step complies with established internal controls and documentation standards.
- Contribute to audit preparation by compiling required information, validating datasets, and ensuring completeness and clarity of submissions.
- Assist in responding to internal and external audit inquiries by providing context and explaining processes.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts by investigating variances and ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Assist with training new team members and providing ongoing guidance.
- Provide guidance to Loan Operations and internal partners regarding operational processes, system functionality and SOX control requirements.
- Contribute to system enhancement and workflow-improvements by identifying efficiency opportunities and supporting implementation of new products and initiatives.
How You’ll Do It:
- Leverage problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve critical issues.
- Maintain strong organizational habits to manage high-priority responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate adaptability and openness to continuous improvement as systems, processes, and business needs evolve.
- Collaborate across teams—including Lending, Servicing, Secondary Markets, Technology, and Finance—to support seamless workflows and efficient operations.
- Uphold strong internal controls, risk awareness, and data-integrity standards in all tasks.
- Communicate clearly and professionally to support strong working relationships across the bank.
Preferred Experience:
- 2-4 years of banking, compliance, or loan-operations experience with a strong data-quality or control-focused background.
- Proficiency with core banking systems, data-validation workflows, and operational controls.
- Experience supporting SOX-related tasks and operational controls.
- Background in loan operations or quality-assurance functions within financial services.
- Proven ability to identify data inconsistencies, interpret documentation, and ensure procedural adherence.
- Excellent organizational habits with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, critical-thinking skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Comfortable operating within technology-driven workflows and learning new systems.
- Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and customer information.
- Located in North Carolina.

The base pay range for this position is $27.18 - $44.48 per hour. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
