Reporting directly to senior executive leadership, the Senior Director / Executive Director of Digital Product Management is a critical enterprise leadership role responsible for owning and scaling the Optum Financial Digital Experience across consumer-facing platforms. This role sets the long-term vision, operating model, and investment strategy for digital products while directly managing senior product leaders, including digital product managers and product owners.
This position requires a highly seasoned product executive who can seamlessly interface with enterprise executives, influence strategy across business units, and translate corporate objectives into cohesive, consumer-first digital ecosystems. The role serves as the primary executive product voice for consumer digital experiences, balancing growth, experience excellence, regulatory considerations, and operational efficiency.
As the senior-most product leader over Optum Financial Digital Experiences, this role drives portfolio-level strategy, ensures alignment across multiple product domains, and establishes governance, standards, and best practices for digital product delivery at scale. Close partnership with business, technology, UX/UI, marketing, data, analytics, compliance, and external partners is essential to deliver measurable enterprise outcomes.
As a Senior Director / Executive Director of Digital Product Management, you will lead transformational initiatives that materially impact Optum Financial's consumer engagement, financial outcomes, and brand trust across millions of users.
- Enterprise Leadership & Career Growth: Lead and develop senior product leaders while building a sustainable leadership pipeline across product management, product ownership, and experience disciplines

- Enterprise Impact Statement: Deliver meaningful, measurable value to millions of consumers by simplifying healthcare financial experiences and improving access, transparency, and usability

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Enterprise Strategy & Vision: Define and own the multi-year strategic vision, objectives, and success metrics for Optum Financial consumer digital experiences. Translate enterprise priorities into scalable digital product strategies and operating models
- Executive Engagement & Governance: Serve as the executive-facing product leader, presenting roadmap strategy, investment cases, risks, and performance outcomes to senior leadership. Establish governance frameworks for prioritization, funding, and decision-making
- Portfolio & Roadmap Leadership: Oversee and integrate multiple product roadmaps into a cohesive enterprise portfolio aligned with growth, experience, and operational goals. Ensure roadmaps reflect market trends, regulatory needs, and consumer insights
- Consumer Experience Ownership: Drive a unified, consumer-centric digital experience across platforms and touchpoints. Leverage analytics, NPS, Adobe tagging, and qualitative insights to continuously optimize engagement and outcomes
- People & Organizational Leadership: Directly manage senior product leaders, including Directors and Managers. Set performance expectations, mentor leaders, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Financial & Investment Oversight: Own portfolio-level budget planning, investment prioritization, and financial performance. Partner with finance leaders to evaluate ROI, CBAs, and long-term value creation
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with technology, UX/UI, marketing, compliance, data, analytics, and operations leaders to ensure seamless execution and delivery across complex initiatives
- Operational Excellence: Establish and evolve agile and product delivery standards, ensuring consistency, transparency, and scalability across teams. Drive continuous improvement through post-launch measurement and optimization
- Risk & Complexity Management: Anticipate and manage enterprise risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs across multiple initiatives while maintaining alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in digital product management, product strategy, or related leadership roles within large-scale, complex organizations
- 6+ years of experience leading senior product leaders (Directors, Managers) with accountability for enterprise-level outcomes
- Deep expertise in agile product delivery frameworks and portfolio management practices
- Solid financial acumen with experience managing large budgets, investment tradeoffs, and ROI-driven decision-making
- Proven success partnering directly with executive leadership and influencing strategic decisions at the enterprise level
- Proven highly adaptable, strategic thinker with solid judgment, emotional intelligence, and a data-driven mindset
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional organizations through ambiguity and change
- Demonstrated advanced communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both executive and technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in digital product management with emphasis on consumer financial experiences, fintech, healthcare, or regulated environments
- Experience owning or influencing enterprise P&L and long-term investment strategies
- Experience partnering closely with engineering leaders on platform modernization and scalable architectures
- Deep understanding of consumer experience design, usability principles, and modern UX/UI tools (e.g., Figma)
- Demonstrated solid analytical background with experience synthesizing large datasets to drive strategic roadmap decisions
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise transformation initiatives across multiple product domains

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 to $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
