Day in the Life
As An Automation Pharmacy Technician 4, You’ll Support Omnicell’s XR2 System To Improve Medication Inventory Management. Daily Work Includes
- Managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated equipment
- Overseeing medication inventory levels
- Updating accurate documentation
- Communicating with customers to ensure strong relationships
Responsibilities
- Operate Omnicell automation systems per SOPs and best practices
- Handle medication returns and restocking
- Monitor and maintain formulary inventory
- Perform routine cleaning, inspections, and maintenance
- Identify system issues, resolve common problems, and escalate unresolved ones
- Communicate proactively with pharmacy managers, staff, and internal teams
- Support high customer satisfaction through professional, responsive service
- Provide training and ensure compliance with procedures and documentation
- Manage expenses according to Omnicell travel policies
- Follow all customer facility guidelines
- Maintain national certification and required state credentials
- Act as a resource/SME for Omnicell team members on site or remotely

Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Active State Board of Pharmacy Technician License for the state of CA
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB, or, NHA CPhT / ExCPT)
- Working knowledge of pharmacy automation
Preferred Qualifications
- Accredited pharmacy technician program completion
- 1 year hospital pharmacy experience (strongly preferred)
- 2 years hospital automation experience
- Basic automation troubleshooting skills
Work Conditions
- Daily onsite commute to: 400 W Pueblo St., Santa Barbara, CA 93105
- Shift: M-F Day Shift 8 am to 4:30 pm
- Travel required for training
- Hospital pharmacy environment
- 8–10 hour shifts; schedule may vary
- Standing for long periods
- Possible exposure to hazardous drugs
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
Base compensation: Hourly range from $27 to $30+/hour.
