A specialized role is available for an experienced Cytotechnologist in an anatomic pathology laboratory focusing on oncology diagnostics. This position involves working with a diverse patient population, predominantly adults and geriatrics, to provide accurate cytological analyses. The role requires a professional skilled in various cytology procedures and comfortable with both inpatient and outpatient laboratory settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics on a wide array of specimens including thyroid FNAs using ROSE, EBUS & EUS, and cytology samples such as ascitic fluid, urine, and bronchial specimens.
- Prepare smears, conduct preliminary diagnoses, assist with on-site procedures, and manage specimen labeling and staining.
- Participate in a comprehensive orientation program and maintain accurate electronic documentation using EPIC.
- Operate efficiently in operating room environments and support collection processes.
- Adhere to departmental protocols and ensure quality patient care throughout all procedures.
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in cytology with 5 years preferred.
- Certification required: ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) and valid CA state license at time of application.
- Proficient in ROSE technique for thyroid FNAs, and familiar with EBUS, EUS, ultrasound-guided sampling.
- Skilled in specimen preparation and cytological staining techniques.
- Experience with at least some preferred tools such as ThinPrep, GMS, and PAP is an advantage.
Schedule and Location:
- Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no routine weekends or call obligations. Occasional extended hours may be necessary if procedures are delayed.
