Role
As
Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV Compounding), you play an essential role in ensuring accurate, sterile, and efficient production of compounded medications using Omnicell’s IV automation systems. Your work directly supports safe patient care through:
- Managing, maintaining, cleaning, and troubleshooting automated IV equipment
- Coordinating material movement and supply readiness
- Monitoring and optimizing medication inventory levels
- Reviewing and maintaining accurate documentation
- Communicating effectively with pharmacy operations and customer stakeholders to build strong working relationships
This is a hands‑on, dynamic position that keeps automation running smoothly and supports excellence in pharmacy services.
Responsibilities
- Perform aseptic, error‑free IV automation tasks in compliance with SOPs
- Complete required daily, weekly, and monthly equipment cleaning and maintenance
- Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs guidelines
- Identify, request, and maintain optimal medication inventories
- Monitor and order consumable supplies for automation operations
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate unresolved problems to the IV TAC
- Complete fingertip and media fill sampling
- Maintain proactive communication with the pharmacy operations manager and customer contacts
- Promote high customer satisfaction by providing quality, responsive, customer‑focused support
- Conduct site training and ensure completion of all required documents and compliance items
- Maintain fiscal responsibility, expense reporting, and adherence to travel policies
- Comply with customer facility policies and procedures
- Maintain national certification and all required state credentials
- Serve as an SME/resource for Omnicell colleagues, providing onsite or remote support to strengthen workflows

Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA—CPhT/ExCPT)
- Active Pennsylvania (PA) Pharmacy Technician License/Registration
- Working knowledge of IV compounding
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of IV compounding experience
- Proficiency with PPE use and proper hand hygiene
- Understanding of sterile environment requirements
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- Two years’ experience with hospital pharmacy automation
- Experience with basic troubleshooting of automation devices
- Automation implementation experience
Work Conditions
- This is a Fixed Term (3 to 4 months), starting end of FEB/ MAR 2nd.
- Ability to Travel for trainings
- Work location: Able to commute and work at this site: 320 E North Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
- Shift: Able to work MON to THU: 1:30 PM to 12 AM (may subject to change)
- Hospital pharmacy environment
- 8–10-hour shifts; schedule may include non‑business hours depending on business needs
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Potential exposure to hazardous drugs
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
