Procurement Manager - Equipment and Technology
SUMMARY:
The Procurement/Equipment and Technology Manager. plays a vital role in optimizing procurement strategies, standardizing laboratory equipment and service agreements, and ensuring operational excellence across the Pace® lab network. This role requires deep expertise in procurement, supplier management, and technical oversight to drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and long-term strategic planning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sourcing & Standardization:
- Develops and implements comprehensive procurement strategies for laboratory equipment, service agreements, and technology to ensure quality and cost-efficiency.
- Leads initiatives to standardize equipment, service agreements, utilization, and best practices across laboratories.
- Promotes best practices in technical procurement and laboratory operations, co-leading the 3P organization as a centralized resource for labs.
Supplier & Market Management:
- Builds and maintains relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and innovation align with Pace® standards.
- Stays informed of supplier technology advancements, integrating innovations into procurement strategies.
- Conducts market research to analyze industry trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing strategies.
- Identifies and mitigates risks related to supplier relationships and procurement processes, ensuring continuity plans are in place.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership:
- Fosters a strong technical community within Pace by mentoring team members and sharing knowledge.
- Collaborates with R&D, Quality Assurance, Operations, and other teams to align procurement strategies with business goals.
- Utilizes extensive laboratory testing experience to inform procurement decisions and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
Asset Management & Optimization:
- Develops and maintains a physical asset list, tracking hardware in production and out of production.
- Coordinates audits of the asset list to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manages asset transfers between locations using internal (TFS) and external vendors.
- Maintains a repository of equipment under service contracts, optimizing service agreement strategies.
- Assesses preventive maintenance needs across the network, identifying internally vs. externally supported functions.
- Establishes contacts and escalation points for maintenance coordination.
- Leverages existing metrics to estimate equipment lifecycles and support capital investment planning.
- Conducts comparative analysis between PAS and PLS for optimizing equipment processes.
Compliance & Sustainability:
- Ensures adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, producing reports on sourcing activities, savings, and supplier performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, lab role(s), or asset management.
Required Knowledge and Skills

- In-depth knowledge of laboratory equipment.
- Experience with asset tracking systems and service agreement strategies
- Understanding of equipment service agreements and their management.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in technical sourcing.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, including requisitions and purchase orders.
- Awareness of the latest advancements in supplier technology and innovations.
- Expertise in laboratory testing requirements and compliance standards.

Salary range $85,000-$115,000
