Description
We are looking for another dedicated person to join us. We have an immediate opening for a full time Safety Officer at our headquarters in Santa Maria, CA. If you have a passion for excellence and would like to join our team, then we'd like to talk to you.
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing the company safety program.
Essential Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintains strict confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA regulations.
- Implements and maintains the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) company-wide.
- Ensures that all facilities are OSHA (Cal/OSHA, if applicable) compliant and that employees’ OSHA-required training is up-to-date, (e.g., Hazardous Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Forklift).
- Leads the Safety Committee, including monthly meetings with Safety Deputies.
- Oversees and/or conducts accident investigations and job hazard analyses.
- Manages response to recordable injuries including:
- Recurrence mitigation
- Working with the injured employee and the supervisor with regard to the company return-to-work program
- Working with care providers, insurance brokers and the insurance carrier to ensure proper care is provided and costs are contained.
- Works with Director of Human Resources in managing Worker’s Compensation cases, including injury and accident reports.
- Creates and maintains safety metrics for measuring program effectiveness.
- Completes and posts annual OSHA 300A form(s).
- Initiates or responds to Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) related to Safety.
- Works with managers and the Quality Assurance department to ensure that training programs meet FDA requirements.
- Notifies Director of Human Resources and Director of Quality when training is late. procedures. Must be well organized and possess excellent number and character recognition skills. Must be able to lift, push, and pull 70 pounds, work from a ladder, and stand throughout the entire shift (excluding breaks). A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Some travel to our facility in Springboro, OH is required. (Approximately twice per year)
Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Safety, Health, or related field; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
