Responsibilities
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for leading and managing Automation/Engineering teams within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group. Interacts with management and key site stakeholders to develop and define requirements for assigned automation engineering projects. Manage activities, resource capabilities, schedules, budgets, and provide engineering expertise to ensure project completion is on schedule and within budget. Develops and Deploys automation and assembly Best Practices and applies shares those details with all sites for the sake of consistency. Working with little or no supervision, applies engineering knowledge to complete large size and high complexity site wide projects from concept through project closure, across areas and locations. Develops and identifies deliverables for approved projects to the scopes, schedules, detailed in approved workshops. Encourage a collaborative engineering culture according to the company values. Manages and leads teams involving multiple functions driving the engineering development and implementation process for a production semi/automation to support Operations. Directs development of requirements, schedules, critical deliverables, budget, resource allocation plan, and other support requirements for assigned projects. Manages activities of supporting project teams and internal development partners; ensures progress against established plan and makes determinations based on analysis of business information to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet project requirements and development schedule. Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders or project Supervisors; collaborates with management and internal manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to product or processes issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to budgets and established product roadmaps and schedules. Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization. Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members. Contribute to and lead breakout teams during and after strategic planning workshops. Trains new employees in the use of equipment, system and equipment documentation, and department procedures. Conducts independent analysis and develops solutions to problems. Includes analysis of performance data, including downtime, efficiency, scrap rates etc. to identify, evaluate and implement continuous improvements. Assist team members with complex and cross-functional projects. Uses creative approaches in solving complex problems. Integrates subsystems and components in total systems design. Supervise others during project-specific activities. Trains new/current employees with respect to documentation, use of equipment, laboratory techniques and department procedures. *Work from home is permitted. When not working from home, must report to Salt Lake City, UT office. *< 50% domestic and/or international travel required per year.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Industrial Engineering or closely related field plus Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related occupation.
Special Requirements
Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be “quantified” by “time.” Required expertise/knowledge includes: Experience in a regulated medical device environment; Experience managing all aspects of programs, directing matrixed teams and resources, communicating program plans, proposals, and results, and negotiating options at senior management levels; Experience handling different projects at the same time, assigning priorities to the team, and sharing deadlines and expectations to the stakeholders; Experience using project and program planning tools and software packages to create, manage, and track project results; Technical understanding and analysis of mechanical machine construction and debug, software programming and logical steps; Experience with product and machine design, by establishing logical steps for a process; Understanding of product drawings, tolerance stack up, moulding processing documents, data collection and analysis, and development of standard work; Experience training personnel on different aspects of machine development: design, construction, assembly software development and debug; Experience with equipment validation and developing/executing all the required protocols to comply with all the quality and regulatory requirements; Knowledge of statistics, Six Sigma and Red X Shainin Methodologies, as well as design and construction tools, as Solidworks and/or Autocad.
