A K-12 school in Bessemer, AL is seeking qualified School Psychologists and Psychometrists for a contract position during the current school year. This role focuses on supporting students with disabilities and helping create tailored Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to foster academic and emotional success.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological evaluations and screenings for students referred by teachers and administrators.
- Gather comprehensive educational, social, and medical histories and administer various assessments.
- Observe students in typical school settings and interview them to better understand their needs.
- Compile findings into detailed reports to be included in the students official school record.
- Respond to legal evaluation requests with appropriate documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support each students individualized education plan.
- For Psychometrists: administer targeted psychological and neuropsychological tests, score results, and maintain accurate records.
- Identify and address any issues related to test validity or timing promptly.
- Assist in psychometric research by collecting and analyzing data systematically.
- Support school staff in completing evaluations required for determining student eligibility and IEP development.
Qualifications/Experience
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings.
- Strong knowledge of psychological assessment tools and techniques.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent observational, interviewing, and data compilation skills.
- Familiarity with IEP processes and legal requirements.
Hours per week: Approximately 30 hours.
