Overview
The General Accountant is primarily responsible for completing general accounting functions while playing a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization. This position, reporting to the Senior Accountant, requires attention to detail, an understanding of accounting principles, and a proactive approach to financial management.
Responsibilities
Ledger Analysis
· Reconciles Credit Card account.
· Assists associates with Credit Card web portal for coding of charges.
Fixed Assets
· Maintains and balances fixed asset listings on a monthly basis.
· Records depreciation expense.
· Records additions and dispositions as required.
Sales Tax
· Files and pays sales tax returns to various state agencies.
· Verifies all tax-exempt forms for customers are on file.
Rebates
· Processes monthly rebates filed by customers.
· Assists in month end rebate accruals.
Miscellaneous
· Facilitates quarterly cycle counts of inventory.
· Performs international freight analysis.
· Assists with year-end fiscal audit support procedures.
· Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.
· Facilitates quarterly cycle counts of inventory.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) in Accounting from four-year College or university; one (1) to three (3) years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with advanced level of skill in working with Excel (Pivot tables, Macros, Involved Formulas, etc.), is required.
· Experience working within large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and database systems, along with a strong working knowledge of their use, is required.
