An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in self-contained CDC SPED classrooms for middle school students in Smyrna, TN. This full-time contract position spans the 2025/2026 school year, focusing on grades 6-8 with a caseload of 10-15 students.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Delivering individualized instruction tailored to students with diverse learning needs in a self-contained classroom setting
- Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state guidelines
- Collaborating with general education staff, parents, and related service providers to support student progress
- Maintaining documentation and assessments to monitor student growth and compliance with educational standards
- Managing classroom behavior and fostering a supportive learning environment
Qualifications And Desired Experience
- Valid Tennessee 461 SPED license, currently active
- Experience working with middle school students in self-contained special education settings
- Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional strategies for students with disabilities
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
