A Special Education Teacher opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Candler, NC, serving high school students in a self-contained setting. This position supports a caseload of 10-12 students with mild to moderate disabilities, primarily following the Occupational Course of Study curriculum in partnership with North Carolina Virtual School. Two students will be working on Extended Content standards.
Responsibilities Include
- Designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students needs
- Collaborating with paraeducators to support student learning and behavior management
- Utilizing North Carolina Virtual School resources to align instruction with curriculum standards
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction accordingly
- Maintaining detailed documentation and communication with families and staff
Qualifications And Desired Experience
- Valid Special Education teaching credentials
- Experience working with high school students with mild to moderate disabilities
- Ability to manage a self-contained classroom effectively
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Familiarity with the Occupational Course of Study and Extended Content standards preferred
Work hours for this contract position are from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM. The classroom includes paraeducator support to assist with student needs.
