The Engineering & Facilities team plays a critical role in supporting uninterrupted manufacturing operations through equipment reliability, facility maintenance, and compliance with cGMP requirements.
Position Summary
The Engineering & Facility Maintenance Technician is an entry-level role responsible for supporting daily facility operations, performing preventive maintenance, assisting with equipment readiness, and ensuring the upkeep of critical utilities and cleanroom infrastructure. This position works closely with senior engineers and production teams to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesRoutine Inspections & Monitoring
- Perform daily checks of plant utilities, equipment, and facility systems.
- Verify system readiness prior to production and provide operational support during batches.
- Identify abnormal conditions and take immediate corrective actions.
Facility & Cleanroom Maintenance
- Inspect cleanroom wall panels, silicone joints, covings, and epoxy flooring for damage or gaps.
- Evaluate door closures, hinges, magnets, gaskets, and interlock systems.
- Inspect and replace lights, ceiling tiles, and related components as needed.
- Monitor for leaks or structural issues and coordinate timely repairs.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance activities on utilities, equipment, and facility components.
- Lubricate, clean, adjust, and replace worn parts when required.
- Ensure proper operation of HVAC systems, water systems, and critical utilities.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and minor control system issues.
- Assist senior engineering staff with complex technical troubleshooting.
- Maintain and monitor spare parts inventory to reduce downtime.
Operational Support
- Assist in equipment setup, calibration, and safe operation support during production activities.
- Provide basic technical support to operators and production personnel.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete maintenance logs, inspection forms, and repair reports accurately.
- Immediately report equipment failures, facility issues, and safety hazards.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow GMP, safety protocols, and PPE requirements at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of engineering areas, maintenance rooms, and workshops.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn pharmaceutical facility operations.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, documentation practices, and safety procedures.
Preferred
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field.
- Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or facility operations.
- Knowledge of GMP environments, cleanrooms, or utility systems (HVAC, RO, WFI) is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Full-time, onsite role in facility, utility, and cleanroom areas located in Chandler and Deer Valley, Arizona.
- Must be able to stand, walk, or perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as required.
- Use of PPE (gown, gloves, eyewear, mask) may be required in controlled areas.
