What We’re Looking For
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for utilizing available resources to ensure that sales order pulling, distribution order pulling and shipping tasks are completed safely and efficiently while providing direction to employees and prioritizing work as necessary on a daily and/or weekly basis to create a collaborative culture.
What You Will Do
- Monitor all warehousing shipping activities i.e., ensure accuracy, completeness, condition of incoming/outgoing outbound shipments
- Consult with management to clarify department priorities, identify concerns, and suggest changes for improvement
- Recommend and/or implement measures to increase productivity
- Maintain and track team metrics and key performance indicators
- Ensure that all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed
- Support and maintain a positive work environment via a commitment to employee relations
- Train, lead, and instruct team members
- Serve as back-up for the East and West Coast Distribution Centers
- Schedule times of shipment and modes of transportation for materials
- Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads
- Coordinate the resolution of problems, complaints and concerns via coaching, communicating and upper management support
- Conduct monthly staff meetings
- Provide at a minimum monthly feedback to employees
- Schedule times of shipment and modes of transportation for materials
- Assist with related special projects, as assigned
- Ensure that department objectives are in line with corporate objectives
- Travel up to 10%
Who You Are
- BS in business or supply chain
- Minimum two years of recent experience as a lead or supervisor in a warehouse environment
- Minimum three years of experience in a support role in a warehouse environment
- Minimum three years working with an ERP/Warehouse system
- Minimum three years working with an RF scanner
- Excellent interpersonal, team-building and communication skills
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities
- Ability to work with team members at all levels of the organization to facilitate problem solving and continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Intermediate level computer skills in Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- SharePoint experience, a plus
Physical Requirements
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
- Bending legs downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish task, particularly for long distances.
- Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving object horizontally from position to position.
- Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
- Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward
- Ascending or descending stairs, ramps, ladders, scaffolding, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
