SUMMARY
The Sterile Compounding Specialist (SCS) - Healthcare (focused on the Healthcare [compounding pharmacy] business unit) analyzes technically-oriented product or process-related customer issues. The SCS then provides information (including solutions/resolutions) to individual customers, groups of customers, or the entire industry in written reports, or internal and external presentations. The SCS works closely with the Contec Healthcare Business Managers, Product Managers, the Healthcare Sales Team and Marketing Manager, but also interacts regularly with associates representing various roles and functions inside the Contec organization, including the Regulatory Group. Externally, the SCS is actively engaged with individual customers and with industry associations such as the American Society of Healthcare Pharmacists (ASHP), the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA), and the Controlled Environment Testing Association (CETA). The position requires the ability to confidently present engaging and informative content to groups of compounding pharmacy professionals.
The SCS is knowledgeable in both products and applications in compounding pharmacies and is also effective in gathering detailed feedback and applications-related knowledge that may be critical to successful use of products, product stewardship, or design of new products.
Contec is an ISO9001 certified organization.Improvements to product development and business processes and procedures are implemented regularly and the SCS may be asked to contribute effort to the design and implementation of these improvements in a manner consistent with the ISO process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Others may be assigned.
- Communicates with Business Unit Managers, field Sales Representatives, Product Managers, or Marketing Managers to identify, prioritize, and fulfill customer technical support opportunities.
- Ensures that Contec existing and new products, services, and support materials/activities meet the needs of the customer and applicable regulatory requirements. This support is either as requested, or by proper (functional, manufacturing-friendly, and profitable) modifications. The support materials include items such as literature, Product Data Sheets/Technical Bulletins, Websites/Social Media, presentation materials, video content, or training.
- Contributes to the strengthening of Contec’s position through written articles, webinars, presentations, or other appropriate forms of communications to approved trade journals, technical committees, industry organizations, etc.
- Utilizes market knowledge to assist in the development of new product(s) with appropriate communications to stakeholders in Sales, Product Management, Research and Development, and company leadership.
- Provides appropriate support to new product implementation teams to develop proper tools and training materials. Provides training internally and externally in support of the product launch.
- Upon request, participates in and provides input and expertise to cross-departmental teams tasked with certain technical (i.e., internal facilities, product, or process improvements) and/or business (i.e., customer/supplier relationship and support) matters.
- Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college specializing in a technical (Science) field; and at least five to seven years related experience; or equivalent combination of education (eg, PharmD, Pharmacy Technician) and experience (compounding).
- Minimum (5) years’ experience as a compounding pharmacist or technician or in a function that supports compounding pharmacies (eg, microbiologist, chemist, certifier)
- Writing related standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Knowledge and experience of hygiene and janitorial practices (ie, environmental monitoring, cleaning, disinfection, decontamination) in controlled environments.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent in oral and written English. Able to read and interpret documents such as competitive literature, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, industry standards and applicable governmental regulations. Able to write trade journal articles, reports, and correspondence. Able to speak and interact effectively before groups of employees, customers, seminars, and webinars.
Fluency (oral and written) in languages other than English is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Math skills associated with pharmaceuticals, microbiology and/or chemistry, and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Application of basic statistical terms and concepts is a plus.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Up to 30% domestic and/or international business travel, including overnight travel, may be required in any given year. Depending upon market activity or customer needs, travel may occasionally exceed 30% in any given month.
