Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV Compounding)
2nd (Evening) Shift (3 openings)
The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV Compounding) will be responsible for maintaining all unit-dose medications required for daily dispensing from the Omnicell automated IV equipment. The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 will prepare and maintain the Omnicell IV automated equipment for daily use, perform advanced equipment troubleshooting, maintain optimal medication inventory levels, review / maintain reports. Automation Pharmacy Technician IV will engage with various levels of customer service by identifying and addressing any customer concerns and report to the Pharmacy Services Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic, error free manner, consistent with prescribed guidelines.
- Perform IV automation equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications.
- Responsible for identifying/ordering medications to ensure medication inventories are at optimal levels.
- Responsible for monitoring and ordering consumable supplies required for the operation of the equipment.
- Responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of IV automation equipment and reporting unresolved equipment issues to the IV HD.
- Maintain a high level of communication with pharmacy services manager and customer, to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program to provide customer-focused support emphasizing quality, professionalism and responsiveness, by acting as liaison between OMCL and customer to assist with customer concerns.
- Comply with IV Compounding procedures, policies and guidelines established by the Customer facility.
- Complete negative fingertip and media fill sampling.
- Maintain state and/or national credentialing to meet established guidelines.

- Working knowledge of computer hardware, PC Windows.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certificate (PTCB/NHA-CPhT or EXCPT)
- Active State Board of Pharmacy Technician License / Registration with the State of TN (if required)
- Some working knowledge of / familiarity with IV compounding preferred (minimum 1 or more years of IV Compounding strongly preferred)
- COV-19 vaccination
Preferred Knowledge And Skills
- Advanced Troubleshooting Skills with automation devices
- SME for Pharmacy Services department
- 2+ year of IV Compounding experience
- Hospital / Inpatient Pharm Tech experience
- Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications
- Proficient in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques
- Working knowledge of sterile environment requirement
- Working knowledge of pharmacy automation
Work Conditions
- Location: Must be able to commute to work at this site at 1 Medical Park Blvd., Bristol, TN 37620.
- Shift(s): There are 4 openings for this site (M -F):
- 1st (day) shift (typically it will be 4/10 M-TH 8-6:30) (1 opening)
- 2nd (evening) shift is for 12 pm to 9 pm (3 openings)
- Hospital Pharmacy Environment.
- Capable of standing for several hours at a time.
- Potential exposure to hazardous drugs.
- Must be able to travel.
- Able to lift 25 – 30 lbs.
Base compensation: For the State of TN, the hourly rate is $25+/ per hour range.
