A Pennsylvania-certified Special Education Teacher is needed to support 7th and 8th-grade middle school students in a classroom setting focused on emotional and itinerant learning support. This contract position, based in Pittsburgh, PA, requires a skilled educator experienced in managing diverse special education needs through a push-in/co-teaching model, with occasional pull-out support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver co-teaching and push-in support to middle school students with special education needs
- Manage a caseload of approximately 17 students, primarily providing itinerant and emotional support services
- Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with strong case management and compliance
- Complete all front-end compliance work including IEP documentation, Local Education Agency (LEA) transitions, and related paperwork
- Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to ensure inclusive educational practices
- Provide in-person support exclusively, maintaining an engaging and supportive learning environment
Qualifications And Desired Experience
- Valid Pennsylvania Special Education teaching certification
- Proven ability to co-teach and deliver push-in classroom support effectively
- Experience working with middle school students, particularly 7th and 8th grades
- Strong skills in IEP development and special education compliance requirements
- Competence in managing caseloads and providing itinerant and emotional support
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
