Located in Boston, MA, this contract role offers an opportunity to serve as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary school setting for the upcoming school year. The position includes two focused teaching roles supporting students with individualized education plans (IEPs) in both inclusion and cooperative learning environments.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Grade 3 Inclusion Teacher, collaborating closely with grade-level teachers and special education staff to support 10-15 students on your caseload.
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, ensuring that students educational needs are met in accordance with their plans.
- Provide instruction and support as a K-2 Special Education Teacher within a Cooperative Learning Classroom (CLC) designed for Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
- Work with a small group of students who split time between the CLC and inclusive classrooms, coordinating with an assistant and a 1:1 aide for student support.
- Attend regular meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions, primarily reserved on Tuesday afternoons.
Qualifications
- Experience working as a Special Education Teacher, preferably at the elementary level.
- Ability to manage a caseload and engage collaboratively with classroom teachers and support staff.
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation.
- Commitment to inclusive education and differentiated instructional strategies.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:20 am to 3:40 pm
- Tuesday afternoons reserved for meetings and training
