Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, dependable IV Compounding Pharmacy Technician with experience in sterile compounding under USP <797> guidelines. This technician will be responsible for preparing, mixing, and filling IV admixtures in a cleanroom environment, ensuring the highest level of accuracy, sterility, and safety in all compounding processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare IV admixtures including IV wellness sterile products using aseptic technique
- Perform all sterile compounding tasks in compliance with USP <797>
- Accurately measure and mix ingredients following prescribed formulas or instructions
- Operate within ISO-classified cleanroom and laminar airflow hoods (LAFW/CAI/CACI)
- Complete batch records, labels, logs, and inventory documentation with precision
- Maintain proper garbing and gowning protocols; participate in environmental monitoring
- Clean and maintain the sterile compounding areas per SOP and regulatory requirements
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and managing inventory of compounding supplies and medications
- Communicate with pharmacists to clarify formulations, address discrepancies, or report quality concerns
- Participate in training, audits, and quality assurance initiatives
Requirements:
- Active Pharmacy Technician License in Texas
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required (PTCB preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in sterile compounding, preferably in a compounding pharmacy or infusion center
- Strong understanding of USP <797> guidelines and aseptic technique
- Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, gowning, and use of laminar flow hoods
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation practices
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a cleanroom environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with automated compounding devices (e.g., Baxa, Repeater Pumps)
- IV certification or formal USP <797> training
- Experience in high-volume compounding or home infusion setting
