Job Summary: Join McKesson as a pivotal AS/400 (IBM i) Technical Specialist, where you'll design, implement, and maintain robust infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. This role is integral to our mission, collaborating with cross-functional teams and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to optimize platform performance. As the IBM i Technical SME, you'll provide technical leadership and guidance, ensuring operational excellence and governance. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive AS/400 (IBM i) system architecture and infrastructure solutions to support business operations.
- Develop and maintain system configurations, manage upgrades, and implement patches to ensure system integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with development teams to design, integrate, and deploy applications efficiently.
- Develop and enforce robust security policies and access controls, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Optimize system performance, storage, and resource utilization to enhance overall efficiency.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve system issues promptly.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation and standards for system processes.
- Stay updated with the latest IBM i technology advancements and industry trends.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet company goals.
What We’re Looking For:
- 8+ years of experience with AS/400 (IBM i) architecture, design, and implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of IBM i operating system, hardware, and software.
- Proven experience with CL IBM i programming languages and database management (DB2/400).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP).
- Expertise in system security, auditing, and compliance.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong leadership abilities to guide and mentor team members.
- Familiarity with cloud integration (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS) is an advantage.
- Experience with Ansible and agile methodologies is desirable.
- Proficiency in data analytics and business intelligence tools is a plus.
- Must demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and staying current with technological advancements.
Education: bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
