Strategic Partnership Development Senior Associate
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Strategic Partnerships team within our Corporate Strategy & Development division. In this role, the Strategic Partnership Development Senior Associate will play a critical role in supporting and driving key strategic partnerships across the enterprise. This individual will manage the development of these strategic partnerships beginning with building business cases, curating partnership opportunities, and support multi-year proforma models to ensure aligned, strategic plans and revenue goals are achieved. The Strategic Partnership Development Senior Associate will also support our Strategic Alliances efforts and partner closely with peer leaders across athenahealth. You are future oriented, practical and have a track record of driving growth through disciplined project management, value creation, plan execution and new business incubation. You possess significant healthcare knowledge as we work at the intersection of providers, payers, and life sciences companies. You are a deep thinker who bases decisions on data and are comfortable with ambiguity and imperfect data sets. You have a deep understanding of digital health and IT solutions to support healthcare delivery along with experience in project management, corporate strategy, or strategy consulting. You can manage multiple projects with maniacal attention to detail and can handle shifting priorities in an agile work environment. You can comfortably interface with multiple teams (product management, legal, sales, etc.) to drive the work of the team forward.
The Team: The Corporate Strategy and Development (CSD) division plays an important role in helping to drive athenahealth’s growth agenda. The division’s charter spans strategy, partnerships and M&A. CSD is a high-visibility and high impact group that will interface across all levels of the company providing quantitative and qualitative analytical decision support on cross-company strategic issues and deal execution.
Job Responsibilities
Support the growth of a new and emerging partnership ecosystem; help to operationalize our end-to-end partnership program beginning with opportunity identification and culminating in executing commercial agreements.
Curate a pipeline of strategic partnerships aligned with corporate imperatives
Partner effectively across functions such as Product, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Legal, and Finance to manage and further develop existing strategic partner relationships
Manage due diligence functions and represent Partnerships in internal reviews with Legal, Compliance, and Information Security as core stakeholders.
Prepare business cases for new prospective partners
Directly support the annual revenue plan and drive recurring revenue growth
Play supporting role in negotiations with partners and with internal stakeholders, including developing term sheets, contracts and joint business cases/plans
Responsible for preparing and delivering periodic business reviews and generating ongoing communications and reporting (e.g. operations reviews, executive briefings)
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
3+ years professional experience; minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing and managing complex partnerships and/or go-to-market strategy, planning and execution
Demonstrated experience in portfolio management, sales process knowledge and risk identification and management
Knowledge and experience within the Healthcare IT space strongly preferred
Background in consulting or commercial law with relevant domain experience a plus
Experience working across corporate functions
Project management experience and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Ability to manage numerous detail-oriented and time-sensitive tasks and ensure the accurate completion of the same
Ability to learn new systems to manage various business processes (e.g. RFP platform, CRM, financial reporting, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve desired results
Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills
