We are seeking a technical Laboratory Supervisor at our La Porte, TX facility to be responsible for the supervision of the laboratory team to ensure analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties. Communicate with various internal and external customers.

Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health & Safety and Compliance protocols.
Responsible for the supervision of the laboratory team to ensure analysis of samples following prescribed procedures with the ability to solve complex problems.
Ability to understand, operate, troubleshooting instrumentation and communicate instrumentation issues to the team
Works on method development when new procedures or instrumentations are needed
Maintenance of equipment, including outside vendor scheduling per maintenance contract schedules and suggest solutions to equipment problems and new/replacement laboratory equipment.
Completes all paperwork associated with the analysis in a neat and timely fashion.
Ensures that all meets or exceeds all applicable QA/QC guidelines.
Responsible for meeting analytical testing schedules for required permits and discharges.
Responsible for supply management in their area of responsibility.
Responsible for problem solving when results fall outside of mandated specifications.
Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.
Implements, maintains, and provides necessary training in accordance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan and other SOP’s.
Supervises the laboratory staff in all processes.
Trains members of the laboratory, implements and suggests operational improvement strategies, completes all personnel functions for the laboratory staff, including but not limited to interviewing, and performance evaluations, as applicable.
What does it take to work at Clean Harbors?
Bachelor of Chemistry
5-7 years supervisory experience in an industrial lab environment preferred
Supervising union employees is a plus!
Must be able to hold the team accountable, yet encourage and motivate
Train, track and manage employees
Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization and be an active listener
Troubleshoot and maintain equipment, including outside vendors scheduling per maintenance contract schedules and suggest solutions to equipment problems and new/replacement laboratory equipment
Must have an analytical and problem-solving mind set
Solid understanding of math, chemistry, and chemical testing
Advanced working knowledge of the laboratory
Proficiency in Windows based applications
