Objective Of Position

The Credit Officer is responsible for maintaining company’s loan policies and credit risk review policies and procedures. This role identifies credit risk situations and provides guidance to line-of-business lending managers. This role will also review credit relationship to determine adequacy of underwriting.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintains the company’s loan portfolios as to risk management loan considerations to maintain quality control and minimize losses.
  • Maintains the reviews and interpretations of new and pending laws and regulations that potentially affect the organization’s credit practices.
  • Keeps the Chief Credit Officer informed of any material considerations affecting the loan portfolio, loan policy and unusual individual loan transactions of significant size. Reports findings to the asset review committee.
  • Assists with the development or revisions of policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure compliance with regulatory process. Ensures that deviations from policy are corrected and reported.
  • Reviews and analyzes all credits greater than specified amount prior to bank board approval. Determines if credits meet sound underwriting standards and do not pose greater-than-normal risk.
  • Assists with the reviews all credit relationship to ensure that the underwriting adhere to existing credit policy guidelines.
  • Help provide advice and guidance to the institution’s lending management. Consults with senior lending department managers as to risk on complex or unusual loan relationships. Reviews lending policies of the bank for each line of business to ensure regulatory statutes are met.
  • Prepares, presents and interprets credit analysis and reporting from each line of business to senior management, shareholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Resolves credit policy issues identified internally or by the regulators by coordinating due diligence efforts with line-of-business managers.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related degree is required for this role.
  • 5+ years of commercial credit administration experience with a financial institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in management information and technology.
  • Strong credit analysis, financial analysis, and knowledge of underwriting is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be self-motivated and an effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail.
  • Have strong change management, organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Ability to identify, understand and define problems, evaluate alternatives, set priorities, manage projects and implement high quality solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to directly manage and communicate multiple projects and priorities depending on organizational needs and strategies.
  • Possess strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.

This role allows for a combination of remote and in-office work, with occasional visits to the office based on business needs. Specific in-office days may vary and will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation & Benefits

Byline Bank offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.

The salary range for this position is between $104,000 to $145,000.

In addition, Byline provides benefits including medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, paid time off and much more! Depending on the specific role, compensation may also include discretionary bonuses and other benefit programs. The actual compensation package may vary based on factors such as skill set, experience level, and candidate's location.
