Brief Job Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer of Global, People & Culture (GPC), the Director, Global Total Rewards & Wellbeing will be responsible for leading comprehensive strategy for and execution of USP’s Total Rewards programs and initiatives in support of the organization’s strategic plan and in alignment with the goal of attracting and retaining top talent.

The Director, Global Total Rewards & Wellbeing plans, directs, implements, and manages the competitive, equitable, efficient, and compliant operation of all global total rewards activities which include, but are not limited to, USP’s health and benefit plans, compensation strategy and administration, international compensation and benefit programs, job family and compensation structure, annual merit increases and incentive programs, wellness programs, and rewards and recognition program.

In this role at USP, you contribute to USP's public health mission of increasing equitable access to high-quality, safe medicine and improving global health through public standards and related programs. In addition, as part of our commitment to our employees, Global, People, and Culture, in partnership with the Equity Office, regularly invests in the professional development of all people managers. This includes training in inclusive management styles and other competencies necessary to ensure engaged and productive work environments.

The Director, Global Total Rewards and Wellbeing has the following responsibilities:

  • Plays an integral part on the GPC leadership team and the Global Leadership Team (GLT).
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Total Rewards team. Ensures positive, highly collaborative partnerships between direct reports and other functional areas within the global GPC team, as well as with other internal stakeholder groups outside of GPC.
  • Plans, directs, and manages all phases of the organization's compensation program including the compensation structure design and salary administration for US and global locations. Periodically works on projects to update programs, such as reward & recognition, pay equity, or changes to the salary structure.
  • Initiates, originates, evaluates, and communicates total rewards policies and practices providing a balanced program throughout the organization. Directs the interpretation and application of established total rewards policies throughout USP. Continually evaluates all total rewards policies, programs, and practices ensuring USP remains competitive and informed of trends.
  • Directs USP’s participation in compensation surveys. Reviews data and makes or reviews recommendations for market and promotional increases as appropriate. Drives annual salary administration process with Global People & Culture colleagues to ensure smooth process for annual increases and bonuses. Reviews recommendations for promotions and market or equity increases. Evaluates jobs and salaries including new hires. Provides compensation market data as appropriate.
  • Oversees the management of the organization's benefits and wellness programs.
  • Provides guidance, consultation and recommendations to the CEO and executive leadership in partnership with the CHRO where appropriate, HR Business Partners, recruiters, and staff on internal total rewards matters.
  • Oversees the employee benefit enrollment process as well as the delivery of compensation and benefits communication materials and education to ensure employee understanding and efficient utilization of available programs.
  • Ensures that USP’s total rewards programs meet all legal compliance requirement and audits regularly and accordingly.
  • Works with People Operations, Technology & Analytics colleagues to ensure that the total rewards programs and initiatives are supported by the appropriate processes and configuration in HRIS.
  • Responsible for the annual preparation of the total rewards budget as well as continual monitoring and re-forecasting throughout the year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Who is USP Looking For?

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or other discipline. Relevant Total Rewards experience and leadership may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in compensation and benefits administration, including expertise in administering wellness programs, ensuring compliance, and conducting audits.
  • 5+ years experience must include global compensation and benefits administration.
  • 4+ years of experience must include Total Rewards program and people leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related.
  • 8+ years of experience in Total Rewards program and people leadership in a

global, matrixed environment.

  • 5+ years experience in global compensation and benefits administration in U.S., China, India, and Brazil.

  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to compensation and benefits.
  • Global compensation design and administration expertise and program knowledge in multiple practice areas including broad-based compensation programs, job architecture, job analysis/evaluations, and career pathing.

  • Excellent knowledge of Defined Contribution plans.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: USD $157,500 to 209,500 annually.

Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
